Q: I’ve heard you can’t start a solo practice today because the banks are not lending? Is this true? A: No! Approximately 55% of our Practice Starters ® clients start their own solo practices, 20% purchase a practice and 25% become Independent Contractors. We guide doctors into solo practice every day.
Q: Why should I join a consulting firm to start my practice… why can’t I do it on my own? A: The Practice Starters® Program, will teach you how to make fewer mistakes. Mistakes are costly … very costly. The Practice Starters® Program will also help you get into practice: easier, reach profitability faster, enjoy a smoother running practice, experience fewer staffing problems, have more new patients and enjoy higher earnings than non-Practice Starters® doctors. Why work harder and get less? The Practice Starters® Program is a very comprehensive step-by-step system that will guide you in establishing a successful new practice quicker and easier by eliminating experimentation and guess work.
Q: Why should I choose The Practice Starters® Program over another consulting program?
A: The Practice Starters® Program can teach you how to start a practice 24/7, 365 days a year. You don’t have to wait two months to go to a seminar to learn how to do something…we are as far away from you as your telephone or your computer.
The Practice Starters® Program helps doctors start a practice from scratch, becoming an Independent Contractor, or purchase an existing practice.
The Practice Starters® Program specializes in starting a practice … it is not something we do secondarily.
Other reasons The Practice Starters® Program is preferable to other consulting firms are:
- It is easier to start a practice with The Practice Starters® Program than with any other consulting firm.
- You will get more new patients – the more new patients you get, the quicker your new practice will succeed.
- You will make more money.
- If you join our “guaranteed” program, we will save you more money than you pay us…that is one of our promises.
- No long contracts… you don’t have to continue to pay us for 5 years. The Practice Starters® Program is simply $99 a month for 25 months.
- We are the most comprehensive and least expensive new practice starting program in the profession.
Q: How do you figure that The Practice Starters® Program is the least expensive practice-starting program in the profession?
A: The Practice Starters® Program is the least expensive for three reasons:
- The Practice Starters® Program only charges $99 a month for 25 months. The other consultants charge $5,000 to $20,000 a year for 2 – 5 years. Thus, The Practice Starters® Program charges a total of $2,475 while the other consultants charge $10,000 to $40,000.
- The Practice Starters® Program does not require a doctor attend seminars in order to learn how to start their practice. The typical new doctor will have to attend 4 or more seminars a year to learn the other consultant’s program. If you practice more than a 3-hour drive from their seminar site, you will have these seminar traveling expenses.

With The Practice Starters® Program you can say “no” … say no to seminar hassles…say no to waiting in line at the airport … say no to missing out on family weekends … say no to uncomfortable hotel beds … say no to closing your practice and missing new patients – then say, “yes” to our profession’s first practice-starting classes via online video-streaming.
The Practice Starters® Program is available on the internet to all DC’s at less than 10% of the cost of other consultants.

Q: How do you figure that The Practice Starters® Program is the most comprehensive practice-starting program in the profession? A: The founder of The Practice Starters® Program has:
- Written 3 books on how to start a practice
- Written a book on how to buy and sell a practice
- Written 18 books on how to start and build a practice
- Written over 100 articles on how to start a practice

- No other consulting firm has this knowledge
The Practice Starters® Program is the only firm that specializes in starting a practice.
Q: I’m already a member of a consulting firm. Should I join The Practice Starters® Program too? A: Absolutely yes!! You still need to join The Practice Starters® Program because…
- The Practice Starters® Program is the only consulting firm that specializes in starting a new practice.
- The Practice Starters® Program is the only consulting firm that guarantees that you will make net profit within 5 months of opening your practice.
- The Practice Starters® Program is the only consulting firm that guarantees that it will save you more money than you will pay for consulting fees.
- And, you can still enjoy the philosophy and procedures of your chosen consulting firm.
Q: What’s unique about The Practice Starters® Program? A: The Practice Starters® Program teaches its doctors how to flood their office with new patients. A large volume of new patients is essential for new practice success.
- The Practice Starters® Program has the most effective new doctor advertising in the world.
- The Practice Starters® Program provides you with a complete step-by-step advertising campaign so that you know when and where to place each type of advertising.
- The Practice Starters® Program also teaches you how to get known in your community quickly and inexpensively.
- The Practice Starters® Program reduces the new doctor’s stress through our lease, bank and contractor checklists, timelines and instructions.
- By following our step-by-step procedures you’ll get into practice easier and you’ll have the peace of mind that your decisions will be the best you can make.
Q: When should I join The Practice Starters® Program? A: You should join The Practice Starters® Program:
- When you’re still in school. Join prior to entering the student clinic so that you can apply Practice Starters® patient communication principles in the college clinic.
- When you are an associate. While an associateship offers great experience, you’ll still need the specialized knowledge only available through The Practice Starters® Program to open a successful new practice.
- Before you open a practice. Join prior to opening so that you can implement The Practice Starters® Program system to opening your practice successfully.
- Before you buy a practice. The Practice Starters® Program guidance will save you money, stress and eliminate mistakes.
- Before you become an Independent Contractor. Many Independent Contractor arrangements are unfair to the Independent Contractor. Practice Starters® advice will result in higher earnings and a fairer contract for you.
- If you have already joined a consulting firm. The Practice Starters® Program will make it easier for you to start your practice, you’ll attract more patients and earn more income.

Q: I’m thinking of opening my practice with a partner…do you recommend it? A: Never! The only one thing in nature that has two heads is a “monster!” The founder of Practice Starters®, Dr. Peter Fernandez, has started over 3,000 practices. He has never seen a partnership that worked. No two people have the same drive, same ambition, willingness to work the same hours, or see the same number of patients. Partnerships usually split up with hard feelings. When partnerships break up there is usually a lot of fighting over money, patients and equipment. A break-up of a partnership is like two people getting a divorce – they usually fight over money. If a doctor decides to go into practice with a partner, The Practice Starters® Program helps the doctors design a partnership break-up agreement (like a pre-nuptial agreement in a marriage). When a break-up agreement is established before the partnership is formed, then when the partnership breaks up, which it will, the two individuals can go their own way and still be friends.
Q: My friend and I want to go into practice together after we graduate. Can we both use the program at the same time? A: Both people have to be a member of The Practice Starters® Program. If one person is a member of The Practice Starters® Program and the other one is not, the Practice Starters® client is not allowed to share any of the Practice Starters® materials with the other doctor.
Q: Can you help me if I purchase a practice? A: Absolutely, Dr. Fernandez, the founder of The Practice Starters® Program is the only individual who has ever written a book on buying a chiropractic practice, and he has advised doctors for the last 35 years on how to purchase a practice.
Q: I’ve heard that the only way to start a practice today is as an Independent Contractor…is this true? A: This is a very common rumor in the chiropractic profession. It is not the least bit true. 55% of all The Practice Starters® Program clients start their own solo practice. They do not start as an Independent Contractor. However, 25% of the Practice Starters® doctors do start as an Independent Contractor. Both types of doctors are actually starting a practice; one of them opens his practice in an office suite that is owned by a landlord, the other one opens his practice in an office suite owned by another chiropractor or a medical doctor. They still have to follow all the right steps of starting a practice.
Q: I’m thinking of becoming an Independent Contractor…can you help me with this? A: Absolutely. Approximately 25% of our Practice Starters® clients start a practice by becoming an Independent Contractor.
Starting a practice as an Independent Contractor is the less expensive way of starting a practice; however, it is fraught with dangers. It has been estimated that 95% of all Independent Contractor relationships end within 2 years. There is a good reason for these break-up percentages – most Independent Contractor agreements are written in favor of the doctor who owns the office and takes advantage of the doctor who is the Independent Contractor. With The Practice Starters® Program guidance, we don’t allow this to happen to our clients.
Q: What is the advantage of joining The Practice Starters® Program vs joining a franchise? A: The advantages of a franchise is that it has an extremely structured way of starting a practice. The doctor who joins a franchise has no option but to follow the instruction of the franchise company. The exact same structured starting format is the basis of The Practice Starters® Program. If a doctor will follow the format outlined by The Practice Starters® Program, they will succeed just as much as a doctor who joins a franchise.
However, the big difference between a doctor who joins The Practice Starters® Program and a doctor that joins a franchise is the doctor who joins a franchise has to pay a percentage of his or her practice income for 10 years, or longer. This is not the case with The Practice Starters® Program. The Practice Starters® Program’s fee is $99 a month for 25 months. It is the least expensive, most comprehensive program of starting a practice in the chiropractic profession.
Q: Do you recommend I become an associate before I open my own practice? A: It depends. If you are unsure of yourself as far as your adjusting ability, your belief in chiropractic, or you lack confidence, you should become an associate in order to increase your confidence level. These are the only valid reasons to become an associate. As you know, most associate positions are very negative experiences on the part of the associate. You’ve heard the term, the “associateship from hell” … this describes most associate relationships. However, if you can find an exceptional doctor to work for … one that will train you on how to become an exceptional doctor … then an associate position is worth it. Dr. Fernandez, the founder of The Practice Starters® Program and Dr. Dianne Fernandez, the president of The Practice Starters® Program were both associates and had great associateship experiences. However, a great associateship relationship is rare … perhaps 5% of all associate relationships are successful. If you have confidence in yourself and are able to diagnose and adjust patients, start your own practice. Most associateships will result in you picking up the bad habits of the person that is offering the associate position. The Practice Starters® Program has extensive classes on associateships and Independent Contractor positions because most of the time an offer of an associate position is, in reality, not an associateship; it is an Independent Contractor relationship. Most Independent Contractor relationships are when a doctor who is not doing well in practice wants a new doctor to come in and build a practice within his practice. This doesn’t work! If a location isn’t good enough to fill up one doctor, how will it fill up two?
Q: I am a student in chiropractic college…can I join now? A: Absolutely. We recommend students join The Practice Starters® Program just prior to going into the student clinic so they can take the additional ‘student’ classes we have in Phase 1 of The Practice Starters® Program and use that knowledge in the student clinic to get their student requirements met. The special student program contains more than 12 additional videos that doctors who have graduated do not get. Our student program teaches the students ways to raise money, stimulate referrals, conduct spinal screenings and so on while they are still in school. Some of the videos are listed below:
- Putting All The Parts Together
- How To Raise Money To Start A Practice While In College
- The Banking Round Robin (How to increase the amount of money you can borrow from a bank)
- The Charge Card Round Robin (How to increase the amount you can charge on your credit cards)
- How to Do a Spinal Screening
- The Most Consistent Way to Stimulate Referrals (3 part series)
- The Fastest Way to Stimulate Referrals (2 part series)
- Stimulating Patient Referrals in the Student Clinic.
- Networking Your Way to Success.

Q: What if I join The Practice Starters® Program, but don’t open my practice and I take an associate position or an Independent Contractor position? A: The cost for The Practice Starters® Program is only $99 a month for 25 months. If a doctor becomes an associate, he continues to pay the $99 per month, and at the same time, learns many of the Practice Starters® procedures so that when he decides to open his own practice, he will be ready. If the doctor becomes an Independent Contractor, he still follows all the Practice Starters® procedures. An Independent Contractor relationship is nothing more than starting a practice in another doctor’s office. It is still starting a practice and all the same practice starting rules and concepts apply.
Q: Can you help me become a success with my adjusting technique? A: The Practice Starters® Program doesn’t require that any specific adjusting techniques be used in a chiropractic practice. Your adjusting technique is your decision. We have many successful doctors who use upper cervical techniques, soft tissue techniques, physiotherapy, straight chiropractors, etc. The Practice Starters® Program is the most successful practice starting program in the profession regardless of the doctor’s adjusting technique.
Q: Can you start a straight doctor’s practice? A: Absolutely. Many of our doctors are straight upper cervical practitioners….there isn’t a more straight type of practice in the profession and there are many doctors in The Practice Starters® Program that are straight full spine practitioners. The Practice Starters® Program can teach a straight or a mixer chiropractor to be successful. The Practice Starters® Program is a system, anyone using the “system” will become successful. That’s why we guarantee that anyone using the entire “system” will become successful.
Q: Can The Practice Starters® Program start a low overhead practice? A: Absolutely. It is always our objective to start a low overhead practice. We recommend what is called a “lean, mean machine” practice. We want a doctor to have a low overhead so that he or she can hit net profit quickly. Once a doctor hits net profit then he or she has the option to spend more money, or increase their overhead. But that is their option. The Practice Starters® Program’s advice is to keep you overhead low … very low!
Q: How much income can I expect to make if I join The Practice Starters® Program? A: We have had doctors earn $98,600 their first 30 business days in practice. We’ve also had a Practice Starters® doctor earn 40 million dollars a year in practice after 4 or 5 years in practice. Should you expect this? No! These are exceptional doctors who were willing to pay the price to earn this type of income.
The average Practice Starters® doctor earns $250,000 his or her first year in practice. If you have more ambition than the average person, you will earn more. If you have a heck of a lot more ambition and drive, you will earn a heck of a lot more. Your earnings depend upon you as an individual, but our average doctor earns $250,000 his or her first year in practice, and, that is great because the average established chiropractor only earns $81,000 per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Q: Where is The Practice Starters® Program available? A: You can access The Practice Starters® Program on-line from anywhere in the world…whenever you want … for any period of time you want … at any time day or night … and you don’t have to travel!
Q: How long after I join The Practice Starters® Program will I be able to open my practice. A: that depends upon a number of factors… Are you joining The Practice Starters® Program while in college? If so, it will be many months before you will open your practice. If you have already graduated from college and know the state and town in which you will practice, this will shorten the amount of time it takes to open your practice. However, typically from the time you find your office site and get your bank loan, it will take 3 to 4 months to open your practice. The amount of time depends upon how much time your contractor needs to remodel your office space. If you find an office space that does not need to be remodeled, then you can get into practice sooner. But, the typical doctor, once he finds his office site and gets his bank financing, will take 3 to 4 months before he opens his office.
Q: How long is The Practice Starters® Program? A: The Practice Starters® Program will guide you from the time you join until you open your practice. Phase 10 of the program contains a six month checklist of all the activities you should do in the first 6 months after your practice is open. You will have access to Phase 10 of the program for six months after you open your practice, but the access to The Practice Starters® Specialists stops once you open your doors. Once you have started your practice you would go to an advanced practice management program with drfernandez.com or another management firm of your choosing.
Q: If I join The Practice Starters® Program can I ask for help from someone at the Practice Starters® office? A: Absolutely. A: When you purchase and follow The Practice Starters® Program and take advantage of every Optional Expert Services offered through The Practice Starters® Program, we confidently offer you the following double guarantee:
Guarantee #1:
- We will save you more money than what you pay for The Practice Starters® Program (excluding monies paid for Optional Expert Service items), or

Net profit is defined as collecting more than enough money to pay the following monthly practice expenses in the amounts approved by The Practice Starters® Program for monthly office rent, office utilities, equipment lease(s)/loan(s) and your CA’s salary.
Q: If you guarantee that I will make a net profit in 5 months, how do you calculate net profit? A: Net profit is defined as collecting more than enough money to pay the following monthly practice expenses in the amounts approved by The Practice Starters® Program for office rent, utilities, equipment lease(s)/loan(s) and your CA’s salary. Any income above the basic overhead is considered net profit.
Q: How do I qualify for the guaranteed program? A: The answer is simple…if you follow our instructions to the letter you are automatically in the guaranteed program. If you want to do something that The Practice Starters® Program does not recommend, then you opt-out of the guaranteed program.
The Practice Starters® Program recommends that its clients follow the Practice Starters® system to the letter so that they hit net profit within five months.

Q: How can The Practice Starters® Program save me money? A: There are many ways The Practice Starters® Program can save you money. We will probably save you:
- $20,000 in office leasing fees
- $10,000 – $30,000 in remodeling costs

And, we’ll save you money by:
- Minimizing mistakes
- Eliminating over-paying for professional services and loans
- Eliminating overspending for ineffective advertising
- Eliminating incorrect office procedures
The Practice Starters® Program helps prevent professionals and sales people (sharks) from taking advantage of you.
New doctors are preyed on by:
- Equipment salesmen
- X-ray salesmen
- Insurance salesmen
- Advertising salesmen
And, if you purchase the optional expert services we offer, you will save additional money. The Practice Starters® Program’s objective is to save you more money than you pay us in consulting fees.
Q: Are there any hidden costs? A: Absolutely not. The total cost of The Practice Starters® Program is $99 per month for 25 months or until you receive your practice financing; at which time, the remainder of the $2,475 consulting fee is due, whichever comes first. There are “optional expert services” that you can purchase from The Practice Starters® Program (previously described). There is an additional charge for those “optional expert services.” These “optional expert services” are services or products that you will have to purchase anyway … but The Practice Starters® Program will save you money on these purchases. That is our objective.

Q: How is The Practice Starters® Program delivered…what can I expect? A: The Practice Starters® Program is delivered to you over the internet. It is available 24/7 – 365 days a year.
- The program is broken down into the 10 phases of starting a new practice.
- Each of these 10 phases are further broken down into 8 steps.
- Each of the steps contains itemized checklists of video content to watch, instructions or e-books to be read, tasks to be completed and items that you will need to purchase.
- The Practice Starters® Program video classes in Step 1 of each phase will teach you:
• What the focus of the phase will be and what you are expected to accomplish in each phase.
• Step-by-step consulting instructions on the “New-Practice Building” activities to be accomplished in each phase.
• Step-by-step consulting instructions on the “New-Practice Killer” activities that occur during each phase of starting a practice.
- Video classes in Step 5 are the office procedures you will need to master before opening your practice.
- Portions of the Practice Starters® program contain forms that the doctor will complete on-line. Some of these forms are computerized assessments that guarantee a general opinion of some kind; e.g. is the state you are interested in practicing a Hot or Cold state. Other forms simply capture and hold data, total the column of numbers and are available for the doctor to print out for their accountant or banker; e.g. the Monthly Living Expense Checklist.
- At the end of each phase you’ll review a checklist of every activity that you accomplished as well as those items that you have not completed.
- By using the Practice Starters® computer program and the specially trained Practice Starters® consultants, you’ll have access to all the necessary information you’ll need to start your practice successfully. And, you’ll have this guidance when and where you need it!

Q: What are the 10 phases of opening a practice in The Practice Starters® Program? A: The 10 phases of The Practice Starters® Program are:
- Phase #1: Pre-Demographic & Pre-Psychographic phase. This phase describes all the steps a doctor needs to take prior to looking for a state and town in which to practice.
- Phase #2: The Demographic & Psychographic Studies Of States And Towns phase. You’ll learn how to pick a hot state which can result in $60,000 a year in additional income. And, you’ll learn how to pick a hot town that can also result in $60,000 a year in additional income.
- Phase #3: The Moving To Town phase. This step describes all the steps a doctor needs to take upon moving to his or her chosen town.
- Phase #4: The Locating A Hot Office Site phase. A hot office site can result in $24,000 a year in additional income. The younger the practice, the more important the location. You’ll learn how to design a “hot” sign … this can add $24,000 a year in additional income. The doctor’s location and sign should attract enough new patients to pay his or her lease and CA salary expenses.
- Phase #5: The Negotiation Of An Office Lease phase. The Practice Starters® Program gives you a checklist of all contingencies and clauses that should be in your office lease.
- Phase #6: The Obtaining Of A Bank Loan phase. The doctor is taught how to obtain a bank loan to start his or her practice and how to write The Practice Starters® Program bank loan proposal. This is the “world’s best bank proposal,” designed by bank executives.
- Phase #7: The Office Build-Out phase. The Practice Starters® Program will show you how to save thousands of dollars in remodeling costs.
- Phase #8: The Pre-Opening Marketing phase. The doctor will be taught who to meet and how to meet them. The more people the doctor meets and impresses prior to opening his practice, the more successful he will be.
- Phase #9: The Month Prior To Opening phase. A lot happens in the month prior to opening your practice. The Practice Starters® Program provides detailed checklists of what should and shouldn’t happen in this stage.
- Phase #10: The Post-Opening Activities phase. This phase details the steps the doctor needs to take in the first six months of practice.

Q: If I stop the program, can I restart where I left off? A: Absolutely. Once you finish a phase and you check off the checklist at the end of that phase, you have completed that phase. Then, if you drop out for a month or so, all you have to do when you join back is to begin the next phase of instructions.

Q: Can my spouse help me with parts of the program? A: Absolutely. We recommend that your spouse help you as much as possible. There is a lot of research that needs to be done and we recommend that your spouse do it for you. You, the doctor, are going to be very busy studying your office procedures, negotiating with landlords, talking to advertising representatives at the newspaper, meeting people, etc. There is a substantial portion of The Practice Starters® Program that can be delegated to your spouse.

Q: Can I share what I have learned with my friends? A: Absolutely not. The Practice Starters® Program is strictly for you since you are paying for it. There are severe financial penalties for doctors who share any part of The Practice Starters® Program with their friends. It is not fair to share the Practice Starters® material with your friends and have them do The Practice Starters® Program procedures in a town in which another Practice Starters® client is opening. In this case, you would hurt your fellow Practice Starters® clients. The Practice Starters® Program will not allow this.

Q: Why are students restricted to Phase 1 of The Practice Starters Program?
A. The students are restricted to Phase 1 for a many reasons:
- There is a lot of work to be done in Phase 1 that must be completed before moving on to Phase 2.
- While you are in Chiropractic College we want you to focus your attention on learning to be the best chiropractor you can be. We advise you to concentrate your efforts on completing your clinic requirements, graduating from college and pass your state boards – then shift your focus onto what states and towns you may wish to practice in and whether or not those states and towns are ‘HOT or COLD’ areas in which to start your practice.
- You will want to double check your state laws pertaining to the practice of chiropractic because these laws can change with each legislative session. You want the most recent information before progressing to Phase 2 of our program.
- We at The Practice Starters Program strongly suggest throughout our program that you ‘do first things first’. In other words, we want you to focus your attention on the most important tasks to be completed in each phase of starting a practice as they come up and not get distracted by anything else.

This additional content is available to student doctors prior to six months before graduation.
